My son and I were pretty excited to try this...one of the more exotic things in the coffee drawer. My first cup was my last. I found it repulsively black and bitter. There wasn't enough sugar and cream to make it drinkable. I spit it out, rinsed my mouth, and dumped the cup down the sink. My son, on the other hand, smirked and finished his. He claims he didn't find it bitter, and thought it was good and strong. I noticed he doesn't select the Café Bustelo often, but when he does he drinks it black, 8 ounce setting. I might have been able to get past the darkness of this little cup, had the total lack of smoothness not done me in. He seems to like coffee that puts hair on your chest. For comparison, our mutal picks are Sumatran, and the Lavazza Espresso.
this espresso is full bodied without being bitter. I drink my coffee with milk and a touch of honey but I still want the coffee flavor to be at the forefront and this is perfect. I immediately ordered more when I saw the year end sale.
Pros: Not Bitter, Smooth Taste, Pleasing Roast, Pleasing Aroma
Finally found the taste I was deeply looking for! Now I can stop going to DD or the stars to get my coffee, now I have it at home! Im actually giving a few boxes as gift!
This is currently my favorite blend. I love it in the morning, especially. Nice robust taste. As a full day coffee drinker, I like to drink several different blends, Half-Caf, Folgers Back Silk, Timothy's Rain Forrest, Dunkin Donuts Dark Roast etc... But this is my go to coffee!
I had heard rave reviews about the Cafe Bustelo ground coffee so I tried the k-cups. It was very very strong. I know it's an espresso roast, but I've had those before, this was darker. If you like a VERY bold, VERY dark roast then you will not be disappointed.
