I would suggest going with the heavy duty mat even if you have a low pile carpet (as I do). They all wear out eventually but the thicker one is worth the difference in my opinion.

I bought this to replace one that was cracked and my chair wheels kept getting stuck in. Although this has no cracks the chair sinks into a location and won't roll unless I stand up and take my weight off the chair. I don't recommend this one. Worth the extra money to get a firmer one which will allow your chair to roll on it.

Arrived as expected flat and unrolled -- so far seems to be holding up on a medium pile carpet. I did however lay it on top of my previous mat which had started to crack. This should support it better.
