I didn't want to pay the higher price for display model. When Staples offered this mat with the same quality as the one that cost more I didn't hesitate buying it.
The cons I gave this product could have easily been remedied by my spending more money. I knew I was getting the cheapest chairmat they had but who wants to spend 60 bucks for a piece of plastic to throw on the floor and abuse?? For me this chairmat works the way I had hoped it would. It protects my carpet and allows me to roll more easily between my computer desk and my traditional desk. Sometimes if I sit in one place too long the chair kind of makes a dent in the plastic and I have to give a shove to roll out of it. But for the price I paid for it I don't get in an ill mood about it. I'm content. It's better than rolling the chair on the bare carpet. And better than spending too much money.
This was recommended for plush carpet so I bought it to go over my new thick carpet and padding. However the pegs are only one-eighth of an inch and so short that they might as well not be there. Every time I use it it moves as much as 6 inches in one day. I find it is not at all useful on a plush carpet and am going to return it to find one with longer pegs.I am very disappointed and feel mislead.
Product will not hold up under heavy use. OK for light use or light people. Standard chair wheels with two disks at each of five support points on plush carpeting will create permanent indentations over time. Premium chair mats are available up to 200 mil thickness. I exchanged for a bamboo mat which looks and rolls great.
The casters on our desk chair leave deep indentations in this chair-mat. Similar products we've used have not done this and have felt more substantial.
