Chair Sinks Into Mat

When I first saw the mat the quality and heavy thickness seemed perfect to use on my plush 1" pile carpet. But after one use I discovered that the mat is not sturdy enough to prevent my office chair wheels from sinking into the mat when I'm sitting down. This renders my chair completely stuck in plastic sink holes so my chair will not roll on its wheels. Bummer. In general however I would say that the mat would be a very nice quality mat for low to medium pile carpets but not high pile.
This mat should only be used on very thin carpeting. The description says low pile and that is very important. The cleats make it unsuitable for bare floors.
The description on-line lead me to believe this was a heavy duty mat for use on a thick carpet but it is no better at resisting divots from the wheels of a rolling chair than my old flimsier mat. [...]
Why do you buy a mat? So chair's rollers won't press into carpet and chair will roll easily. Neither happens with this mat. The castors will dig into the mat and chair will not roll. If you don't get up and move the chair periodically it will dent through the mat into the carpet. I weigh 165 lbs so nothing out of ordinary there.
