I have a medium pile carpet and I purchased this chair mat specifically because the description said "this chair mat stays firmly in place". However this is definitely not the case as I have to re-position it every few hours. Very frustrating!

The store associate indicated the mat might work on 3/8" residential carpet. Although it is better than no mat it quickly develops depressions from the chair casters. It would appear the other thicker mat would work better.

This was rolled up and held closed by tape. When the tape came off I had a VERY difficult time getting the sticky part off of the mat even with a product that should take it off. Also it is not the quality of the mat I replaced. It is thinner.

heavy duty chair mat

delivery was very quick. Mat was as described. Hopefully it will last longer than the previous Staples heavy duty mat which was about 5 years. Carpet is 3/8-1/2" thick so wheels (dual flat type) press in to mat eventually cracking the vinyl.
