The grip pegs on the bottom are not long enough for the thickness of the carpet under it. I bought it because it was the only one available with an under-the-desk tab which fit the opening I have. It will probably crack with age but it was cheap enough if it lasts several years.
Laid it out and let it "relax" from the rolled shipping position for a few days (as recommended) before using but within a couple days of use it already had cracks in it. Now a few months later and it's completely breaking apart and needs to be replaced already.
This chair mat is a typical vinyl product. I purchased it for my recently renovated home office. Unfortunately with the thin vinyl material combined with the carpet padding the chair wheels leave divots in the mat and to a lesser degree the carpet below. I would only try using this mat over the thinnest of carpets without padding. Otherwise I would avoid it.
I purchased this mat on 4/13/20 - and it already is cracking in several places. So after a little over one year of use on carpet - the mat is basically junk. I will absolutely think twice about buying another one in the future.
