I was very pleased with the prompt delivery of my order. It was not rolled up but had a wavy bend or two. To solve this problem I placed the mat in the sun for a couple hours. After that I was able to lay the mat down and put it to use. I had no problems removing the shipping labels a problem others have expressed a little warm water and a sponge did the job. The size was perfect for my desk. The thickness of the mat is good as it does not leave indentations on my carpet and the dents in the mat go away after I am done.. The cleats hold the mat in place and keep it from moving. I have had the mat for two weeks now and am pleased with my purchase.
Honestly its plastic and a chair sits on it. The true test will come after 6 months. If it can keep its flexibility and not crack and become brittle then it will be the best floor mat ever.
I replace an inexpensive acrylic mat with this mat. It is some much nicer. It is definitely more robust than the one I had. It is also large so that it covers more of the carpet area. I use this is my sewing studio where I roll my self from my desk to the sewing station to the cutting station and back. I will do this multiple times a day while I am working on a project. This mat is definitely heavy enough to handle this. I would definitely recommend it to my sewing/quilting friends. Hands down it is a better mat than I have seen elsewhere.
I purchased the chair mat to replace the last one I purchased at Staples. The previous one worked great. It was thicker had more holding power and allowed my chair to glide easily across it. This "Pile Carpet Chair Mat was so flimsy that the casters on my office chair made deep grooves in it and would not roll on the mat. It might work fine on hardwood floors or concrete but is worthless on carpet.
This chair mat is the perfect size for confined spaces. So if you're an executive with mega-space you can disregard this review; but you probably don't purchase your own chair mats anyway. The "grips" are just right for industrial pile carpets (i.e. low hard working) which is fairly standard in in most office environments. The grips make the mat stay put so that you don't have to worry about it shifting under your chair. The only reason I can't give this product fire stars is that it doesn't last very long. I go through at least one a year but that may be because I'm fidgety.
