Nothing to roll on about...

Use in the office at home. The carpet is very short and very low in size but I find that chairs do not roll across the mat easy. I have 2 types of chairs in the office and it just as easy to roll my chair on top the carpet as it is on the mat. The mat has deep dips from the rolloing casters.
We purchased these to put in the kids' rooms at their desks so the chair wheels wouldn't catch the carpet. One is being used in our basement on a burbur type carpet the other is on a more plush carpet but still works fine.
We recently built a home office upstaris inside our 8' long closet. What we didn't plan on was the chair sitting on the guard rail for the doors. The transition is carpet to linoleum with a metal strip in the middle. After using the protector the carpet is no longer tearing up and the chair is no longer getting stuck in the rut of the rail. Smooth rolling back and forth sturdy construction and it's reduced the transfer of noise through the floor as well. That was a huge surprise and relief.
Our rug is actually thicker than that recommended in the product description. Our chair rolls OK not great but OK. We purchased at [$] less a $5 coupon. Others were $49 and up. But I don't think a smoother "roll" justifies the step up price.
