Bought this to replace worn out Staples branded mat. Got pretty good mileage out of the old one (about 4-5 years) and expect the same from this new one. Overall it appears to be the same thickness but minus the handles but you don't really need them once it is laid down. Pricewise the cost pegged much higher but I used Rewards to bring down to reasonable level.
I find the office pad I bought is a little thin using it on a carpet. It would be fine if I was using over a hard surface floor. I think the for mats should be shown that it be used over a carpet or a hard floor. The difference being the one I bought is to thin to use over a carpet since it sinks into the carpet and stiffer one would not sink into the carpet.
While the mat doesn't quite work with my L-shape desk (the smaller part doesn't quite fit far enough under the desk to protect the carpet where my feet sit) it is a sturdy mat that looks like it will hold up to extended use. It has also stayed in place on my medium pile carpet and not moved as I have rolled around. I have a fairly large and heavy chair and the mat is not developing any grooves or dips. I hope it will hold up to my first impressions!
I spend a lot of time in my office. I have worn out 2 rugs and decided it was time to protect my rug. I looked at several mats online and in the store. I decided to go to the store and purchase one. They had a colored mat but I decided on the clear nuetral mat for my office. It does everythind I need it to do and was a good price.
The plastic chair mat that I purchased at Staples is wonderful. It hugs the carpet and does not move. You can trim it to fit any size opening. I use it at my computer desk and have another chair mat across from it for my other desk. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a mat to place over carpet to use with a desk chair.
