It works fine. On medium pile carpet it prevents the chair from ripping or destroying the carpet but still leaves pretty serious indentions from the wheels.

I consider my office carpet to be low pile but the chairmat is soft enough that the wheels sink into it. This is probably the case for any chairmat at this price point.

All in all the mat is good and did fit the space correctly. I tried to choose a heavy thickness but it still leaves some dents. My big complaint is that it was not in a box. By the time we retrieved it from the side of the house (couldn’t have been 10 minutes after the delivery person rang the bell) it had already folded over. I know the heat was the immediate cause but if it was in a box or even it it had some sort of cardboard around it it would have been easier to handle. Thankfully no damage as it slide down the brick that it was leaned against.

Now that I'm forced to work from home I had to set up my own office space so this carpet protector was a definite must have. Yes I would recommend this if you need something for a small space this fills the bill!
