Got this chair mat to go with the awesome chair we bought for my dad. Mat wasn't quite as thick as I hoped it would be so even though it does work well so far the chair wheels still make a bit of a divot in the mat making it a little less than ideal for my elderly father. It is however much better than he had before (cheapo chair that had fallen apart with no chair mat at all for the carpet). He's happy though especially with the chair (which is super comfy and easy to operate). If I had it to do over again I might buy a little thicker mat. However I went with price... (Yeah I know you get what ya pay for...)

Staples Hardwood Floor Chair Mat

This mat provides protection for the hardwood floor while enabling chair movement. The clear aspect makes an attractive clean look and hides stains marks caused by usage. I retains its position and does not slide. It also makes for silent movement of the chair. I make frequent trips around the office moving the chair each time. It does not transmit the imperfections of the wooden floor smoothness is enhanced.

Soft Mat

After about 12 years I had to replace the office chair mat to protect the rug. This replacement was priced right but it's a lighter softer product which suffers "dents" from the chair wheels and the weight of the chair alone. I don't expect it will last long before the material weakens and cracks and I break the mat while sitting in the chair. I'm 180 lbs. This Staples brand (Quill) product meets the price point but not the quality I expected. I feel let down.
