Our cat loves these rubber bands. They're just the right size (too large to swallow sturdy enough to toss around the house). She usually has a selection of colors stashed around the house.

I have seen a number of people using these rubberbands to hold down lids. It makes food travel so much cleaner.

Excellent for file useage as it holds up without coming apart for a long time. Also holds together many items around the house which avoids clutter.
