I am very disappointed with this 30 inch telescopic downdraft system. It was installed in a state that I managed in Maine and it never worked properly.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Looks really good and works well, although it does sit fairly high when operating. It is a fairly loud unit if operated at high speed. It takes up a lot of room. We were told we could reverse the motor and it would only take up 4 inches of drawer space. This is not accurate. You can reverse the motor but not the fan. It takes up 4 inches plus 5 1/4 inches for the fan which cannot be reversed. It stole 5 additional inches off my pot drawers which I am not happy about
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After the first month of real use, the fan is great but a bit noisy. Seems to do it's job very well. Have read reviews about the up and down issues, we have not had any as of yet. Great fan, but just a bit noisy. HIghly recommend that under cabinet space and placement is researched before buying. We had to make modifications to the placemen our gas line to fit the unit in... And it's heavy!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this to replace 20 year old system. It is much poorer quality than the previous exact same model from 20 years ago. The mounting brackets are worthless. The fasteners on the feet are placed on the back of unit - against the cabinet wall. The button to activate is cheap chintsy plastic. The grounding wire instead of being bolted is cheaply soldered. Sad. I'll be surprised if it lasts a year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a replacement for the initial downdraft vent we bought in 2010. This model is much more noisy than the original one and takes up slightly more space in the underneath cabinet. Old model had variable speeds, and this one has 4 set speeds. It does seem to move the air well. According to the technician, this model is a better design as far as the motor assembly. This was the only model available from KitchenAid to fit the same space.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was installed in my kitchen remodel and it is a great product. I had an older model KitchenAid vent but the new one is much taller and has 3 speeds.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) The product has been in service for over 1 year now, and it has done its job with few exceptions. The downdraft system is roughly as loud as any other range, so that is within expectations. There are three (3) issues which prevent a 5 star rating: 1. The cover piece does not overhang over the back of the unit at all. This results in a potentially unsightly gap depending on the installation location and execution 2. The multi-position switch for fan speed is very cheap, and may be arcing in my unit. Regardless of defect, it takes more effort than is necessary to achieve the desired outcome 3. When extended at full height, the unit leans forward toward the stovetop slightly. While no function is impaired, I would have expected better/sturdier for the price point and from this brand.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Problems with the vent. Fan stays on after withdrawing in housing. A good tap usually turns it off. Being repaired. I’ll update review post repair
