Acceptable but not as good as the Staples entry-level shredder it replaced (which finally died after at least 20 years of service). In this new shredder (1) The shreds are larger. (2) Shredding is activated only by inserting the sheet(s) and stops as soon as the shredding is finished leaving shreds immovably stuck in the shredder teeth. (3) The top is heavier and harder to remove (although contrary to other comments the handholds are adequate). I'll keep the shredder and continue to use it but with some disappointment.
It does the job of light shredding. I was disappointed that the bin does not pull out for emptying. You have to remove the actual shredder. The bin is somewhat flimsy.
My old shredder conked out after some 15 years. Bought this one costing $40.00. Much more quieter than the older model. It's advertised up to 8 sheets at a time but I found that 4 sheets worked very well but in adding more sheets you had to be more accurate in feeding the sheets into the opening so it was more time consuming. Very sturdy. Honestly I cant picture paying over 100 bucks unless you're a business and for personal use at this price its great.
