Otherwise great case but…

I think this is a great feeling case. I usually love my peak design cases. But what bothers me is the little lift where the volume buttons are. It’s not flushed against the phone and I can see a peak of the orange iPhone metal

Loving the case so far. There isnt much of a lip for a screen protector so thicker screen protectors maybe thicker than the case.

Poor design for the front

I came to this from the nomad rugged case and this is a major let down. I’ve had my phone for a week now and my screen protector is already trashed because of how there’s zero lip around the screen. This is so disappointing for a case at this price. Yeah it holds my phone on my motorcycle but I can’t sit it down without scratching my phone. It only protects the diced. That’s about it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poorly thought out lip—screen protector shatters

Lip on case is shallower than the height of the screen with a screen protector. If the phone falls flat, the screen protector bears the fall and shatters, while the case doesn’t even touch the ground. Very poorly thought out for what is supposed to be the ultra in protection.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

with this case. I have been using the Peak Design GNAR case with my iPhone 17 Pro for just under three weeks and I’ve already cracked two Zagg protective screens. There haven’t even been any significant drops. I’ve already ordered another company’s case that I have used with previous iPhone models and had great success. While the GNARR case looks very nice in my experience it does a terrible job of protecting the screen on drops.

Not up to PD standards

I own a lot of Peak Design gear and, because of that, have high expectations in their gear. This product didn't meet them. The case is bulky and heavy and the fit and finish is poor. The edge where the side meets the front of the case is rounded nicely on the front, but on the back its a sharp edge that is uncomfortable in the hand. The patch of softer rubber around the connector in the back seems like it's the wrong size. It's not as thick as the cutout so there's an edge or drop from case to patch. Then, the metal square in the middle is raised up. Again, not being flush across the three materials leaves an unpleasant feel in the hand. Most of my disappointment is in the lip on the top and bottom on the front screen. It's ramped shaped and seems to be designed to be flush with the screen at the end of the taper. However, with a screen cover it creates a sharp jump at the edge that end up swiping my thumb against constantly. The lip around the camera plateau is way over done. It's a solid mm taller than it needed to be to protect the lenses. The contrasting color inside the lip is somewhere between tan and orange while the case buttons are bright orange. Again, it just seems like it didn't all come together in the implementation. I still love the idea of this case, but the final design just didn't hit the target and I've ordered a case from another company.

Rally School Proven Phone Case

I work at a rally driving school as their full time content producer, which means five days a week I am out in the elements and in the mud. I have dropped my phone countless times and never had a scratch. The back magnet is strong, and the plug at the bottom keeps out most dirt from the charging port. 10/10 would buy again.

A great step forward, not quite perfect

Just received for my phone and I’m overall very pleased. I read reviews for the previous Gnar case and this new one seems to address major concerns from that previous version. The good: it looks great with the new orange, the buttons feel like solid extensions of the ones on the phone, the slider for camera zoom works, and the protector for the charge port was a pleasant surprise. The not so good: you don’t get a loop like the every day case, it’s just a bit heavier, and the magnet does not seem as good at keeping things vertical including my PD wallet or on PD chargers in the car. I realize that a locking charger would fix this, but it seems shortsighted that my previous everyday case worked just fine with my PD chargers, and this one seems floppy on the same charger. Overall, this is the best iPhone case I’ve ever owned. It is also from Peak Design, who I’ve come to expect the absolute best friend in owning their gear.
I would recommend this to a friend!
