Great size

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this new one due to power surges that took out my last kitchen aid refrigerator. This one is taller so bigger in side. I love the size. This ice cubes are cube shaped and much better for water bottles. It is colder so we are still adjusting that. Would recommend this model. Also recommend that everyone get a surge protector for all appliances.

Same defrost drain failure in two brand-new units
on June 1, 2026
Posted by: JRM71
We bought the KitchenAid KRMF436SPS expecting years of reliable service at this price point, and instead we have now watched the exact same failure happen twice, in two separate brand-new units.
In both cases the refrigerator ran fine for the first month and a half. Then, somewhere between six and eight weeks in, the defrost/condensation drain froze over. Once that drain ices up, the water from the normal defrost cycle has nowhere to go, so it backs up and freezes into a sheet at the bottom of the freezer drawer. From there it overflows and runs out onto the kitchen floor. We were wiping up water and chipping out ice on a unit that was barely two months old.
What makes this hard to accept is that it was not a fluke. We had the first unit replaced, the second one was also brand new, and it developed the identical problem on the identical timeline. Two units, same symptom, same six-to-eight-week window. That points to a design issue with how the drain is routed and kept clear, not to a one-off defective part or anything we did wrong. The fridge was leveled and installed correctly, and we did nothing unusual with it.
To be fair, when it is working the refrigerator itself is nice. Good capacity, the FreshChill drawer is genuinely useful, the layout and finish are excellent, and it is quiet. But none of that matters if you cannot trust it to not flood your floor. A refrigerator has one job above all others, and a brand-new unit dumping water onto the floor twice in a row is a serious reliability problem.
I would think hard before buying this model. If you already own one, keep an eye on the freezer floor for any ice sheet forming, because that is the early warning sign before it starts leaking.
When we called Kitchen Aid service, they told us they would call back within a week and tell us when our service appointment would be. Unacceptable! Thank God Costco agreed to take them both back and agreed to refund our money

Irregular temperature control

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Freezer temp ranges from +5 to -10 when set on zero. Sent tech repair person to check it and he said there is nothing wrong because it averages +1 over the various areas of the freezer. Told me to not put the ice cream carton in the right side if it is too hard to scoop because that is where the cold air comes into the freezer

New refrigerator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased in January to replace a 8 year old Whirlpool refrigerator.
This refrigerator makes sounds like whistle and groans. We think it makes these sounds when making ice.
This model does not have adjustable shelves. Would rethink that on next purchase.
Large freezer space.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We loved our old KitchenAid (which, after 25 years, still works like a champ!) but wanted a new model with the drawers! Love them!
I wish the shelves were interchangeable from side to side, but I love the folding glass shelf also!

Beautiful Fridge with great options
on February 19, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’ve had this refrigerator for about a month and absolutely love the interior design. The lighting and wood trim give it a sophisticated, high-end look, and there’s plenty of refrigerator space, especially in the door compartments, which we really appreciate.
That said, we do have three main complaints. First, the refrigerator shelves aren’t very flexible when it comes to adjusting height or layout. Second, the freezer would benefit greatly from a small compartment on the inside of the upper door for holding smaller items like ice packs. Third, and most frustrating, is the lack of door adjustment. Our right refrigerator door and handle sit about half an inch higher than the left, which is extremely noticeable. Our installer told us this is a design flaw with the newer models and that the doors aren’t adjustable. The only solution offered was to shim the right side of the fridge, which made it feel unstable and actually look worse.
We’ve always been drawn to KitchenAid products and own their dishwasher, stove, and several small appliances, all of which we love. However, this particular design flaw is very disappointing, especially at this price point.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Water dispenser had to be replaced within a week (water runs after removing cup). Interior lighting is dull and shelfs can't be adjusted very much. Looks good on outside. Keeps things cold. Ordered online none available to view at store
