Glowing from Under!!!

I have purchased this item twice once for my truck and then for a golf cart. It's a really nice “underglow”. On the truck I ran the wires through the frame and had plenty of wire and length. On the golf cart light were perfect length and the extra wire between the lights were not needed so I just zip tied it in a bundle and tucked it away.
We are a car store and we have been working with your brand for 2 years now! I love the quality, but there was a change in the last two orders, the new kit arrived with 8 light strips, and this is not a good change for the underglow kit. Now the customers are asking why there is a space between the middle strips and this is because you have change the kit, this space doesn't look great. The perfect fitment for sedan vehicles, was the 4 lights strips kit.

Big fan of Govee -- looking forward to getting these installed permanently with a switch.

The set does work and has the Govee patterns and application options that you want - they differentiate from the more generic offerings out there by far. The 8 sections will give your car the full coverage of underglow. I'm looking forward to the finished installation. That's where I have been delayed due to other engine work on the car.
I've yet to get this installed and it will need to be modified to match up with the undercarriage shield sections. It has to be easy to disconnect and service the car. Since this set doesn't have any natural disconnections, I'll need to cut and use waterproof wire clips -- and while I'm at it, it will be easier to put the wires up and out of the way. The car will also need to have a power switch installed, which I'm planning to be in the flip-down coin tray. While the Govee lights can be turned off, there is a parasitic drain on the battery if you don't install a disconnect switch.
My biggest complaint is the packaging. For some unknown reason, they put this in a square-ish box and then bent the lighting strips into a loop (as shown in my picture). When they are outside of the box, they stay naturally curved. I'm currently flattening mine, with blue tape holding it down and heavy paper reams on top to lessen the curve... If that doesn't work, I'll add heat—bizarre packaging decision for something that is best kept straight so that it installs naturally flat. In addition, I'll have to add hot melt glue on the ends since forcing the strips into a circle has made the wire sheathing gap a bit on the ends of a few strips. -2 stars. They could have efficiently just designed a long rectangle box that would have protected the strips appropriately from bend or damage.
The installation diagram is essential to follow so the lighting effect patterns work well. The rest of the directions aren't as helpful:
"a. Unpack the box and check whether all items are intact. " My detail -- In the box are the 8 strip lights and control box already permanently connected. A bag of 14 plastic clips. A bag of 28 screws to install the clips. The manual is very short.
"b. Power on the strip light to check whether it works well. " My detail -- you aren't given anything to test this kit with, but you can use a spare 12/24volt car, motorcycle, marine, or powered toy battery to try it with. Do so before putting all of the time and effort into installing. Borrow one from a neighbor or test from your car battery directly to the terminals if you need to.
"c. Connect the DC wires to the power brick" My detail -- well, this doesn't exist in this kit, so ignore. It must be detailed from other kits, and they are recycled from other instructions.
"d. Fix the DC wires on the engine compartment near the battery (notice, do not fix the part that easily gets hot)" My detail.. hrm.. This must be the direction to attach the controller to a place in the engine bay that will not impact it from heat if you attach the wires directly to the battery. In my car, there is no battery in the engine compartment. I'll be routed back to the passenger footwell fuse box area. If you are doing this, clean the spot well and use the adhesive sticker... but also use zip ties or a metal bracket to lock it into place -- you don't want this coming loose and melting against something or getting stuck into a moving part.
"Connect the positive DC wire (red) and negative DC wire (black) to the correct poles of the engine" My detail -- I'll be routing the cable safely into the glovebox area and attaching it to an existing fuse, wiring in the bypass switch. For the most part, this seems like a translation problem. If you connect directly to the battery, then you connect to the battery's positive terminal and a ground point on the car frame. It's not an option in my car, and the terminals in the engine compartment are for jump-starting the car, not for electrical connections. At no time should you connect these wires to an engine... please don't
The other instructions for securing the strips are common sense -- clean before adhering. It doesn't mention this, but no hanging wires. They will get caught on something if it hangs down, and the lights magically disappear.... Use the clips.
And last best advice -- keep these powered when installing. If something stops working while you're installing, you'll know immediately and know where the failure started from. Good luck -- if you don't have an interest in all of that, find a local place that installs/upgrades automotive sound systems. They will be able to install these for you.

Appears well made and waterproof. This set is the perfect size for a 2 seat golf cart- Complete coverage around the perimeter and in wheel wells. I'd want a couple more strips for a car tho. Tons of awesome effects in the app and looks to have all the customization you'd ever want. Great value, especially with the killer app!
