Not very good
on January 8, 2022

The only redeeming quality I see is water resistance. Other than that: - Battery life is brutal. May be good for next 5 or 10K. But "8 hour" battery life is a myth. I ran the other day and 90 minutes it was saying it needed a charge - The sound quality is mediocre at best. High end sounds cause buzzing - The website is brutal. You need a separate username and password to register the product and a different one for the main site. So every time I logon, I spend 15 minutes recovering password - No battery life indicators - No indicators to tell you if they are on or off

OpenRun vs OpenRun PRO
on January 8, 2022
Posted by: Fairy P.
I currently have the OpenRun 8th Gen (when it was still called the Aeropex AfterShockz prior to the name rebranding thus I have the old logo). Overall, I am very happy with this product. Just recently I saw that a 9th Generation OpenRun PRO was just released to kickoff the 2022 New Year. In comparison, there's only very slight differences between the OpenRun (8th Gen) versus OpenRun PRO (9th gen), of which I will note below. So if you're currently considering on getting the PRO like I am, consider if the differences are worth it:
• 8hr charge for the OpenRun versus a 10hr charge time for the OpenRun PRO. Okay yeah...I dig it :) Any extra usage time is always a plus for me especially on days when I'm too lazy to charge.
• The OpenRun weighs 26g and the PRO weighs a little heavier at 29g but not a deal breaker for me.
• Different placement in terms of the charging port (which is neither a good or bad thing, just an observation).
• The OpenRun PRO has faster charge time of 1-hour versus the 1.5 hours for OpenRun 8th Gen (but honestly an additional 30 mins is not a big deal at all that would make me jump for joy and run out to get a PRO). I usually unconsciously leave my headphones on the charger for longer than it should anyways since I sometimes forget about it while running errands and doing other things around the house. So this additional charge feature I didn't care much about.
• OpenRun is 'waterproof' (IP 67), while the OpenRun PRO is only 'water-resistant' (IP 55), which confuses me. Honestly my biggest beef here, obviously. IP rating weathers dust and moisture, so they are durable enough to withstand rainy runs, sweaty rides, or other gritty conditions. So like WHY would the new generation downgrade the IP rating??? This makes no absolute sense. Typically shouldn't new generations in anything be more advanced and not a less/downgraded version of it's former counterpart?! So I would really like to know why???? Definitely a major turn-off.
• The PRO version has two bass enhancers, unlike it's former counterpart. I'm very excited to find that the new OpenRun Pro has incorporated the two bass enhancers. This is pretty much the ONLY reason why I would get the PRO because I've aways complained about how much I like my headphones except for the lack of bass and sound quality. Hoping the more premium sound quality of the bass enhancers is as advertised and worth the penny for music listeners like myself.
So that pretty much sums up the differences in a nutshell between the OpenRun and the OpenRun PRO in terms of features. In comparison to everything else, all the other features are exactly the same between the OpenRun and the OpenRun PRO in terms of sensitivity, wireless range, microphone, bluetooth type, command controls, frequency response, compatibility, moisture detection, frequency, etc etc etc.
I haven't bought the PRO yet given the pricetag so I'm going to wait until my birthday this Summer to get one, and again mainly for the bass enhancers and the extra 2-hours battery life, which for me are both very important to me so hoping when I do get it, that it won't be a disappointment.
Another thing I want to mention in terms of its size is that I would like to see a "Mini" version of the PRO. Makes no sense to have a Mini for the standard OpenRun but not have it available for the OpenRun PRO. The "Mini" is very popular especially amongst us ladies so I'm hoping to see if there'll be one by Summer. Guess I'll see what happens when the time comes!

I’ve had my Aeropex for 2.5 years and about 11 months after i bought them something came loose in one of the ear pieces. I contacted aftershokz and they immediately replaced them and were incredibly helpful with letting me know the warranty period on my other set of titaniums (yes I’m obsessed). Wouldn’t trade them for anything. I

Good while they lasted

Have the aeropex version of these and have been pretty happy with them for about 2 years and 4 months. Two downsides. The multi use button calls people when trying to play audio constantly and has been a problem. The other is that the frame snapped behind the ear making that side useless. Heavy use but nothing that should have broke the frame. Worth the money but a little disappointed in build quality vs the air.

Been using these daily since the middle of 2020 and they are a part of my daily life. Easy to use, great for the soundtrack of your life without impacting your ability to hear the world. I have successfully recommended many pairs to friends and will continue to do so. Primarily used for calls, podcasts, videos, and while cycling.

Aeropex - The only way to go
on January 5, 2022

I own 3 pairs of the original aeropex purchased in 2019 through 2021. My mom has a pair for watching TV. I use a pair for work to make calls and two other pairs for working out and running. I have experienced no issues with any of them but have heard of the DOA issues, but have not experienced that. I take them on vacation and use them around the pool. I love these things obviously. waiting to purchase a pair of the black mini's to see if I like the smaller size. I bought the mini's for my mom and liked them better for their fit. my big recommendation is to register them on the Shokz site. i hardly know they are on and have often accidently worn my office set home. the sound is great for calls and no one has ever said there was an issue with the call. Music while running, working out and hanging out is good. I understand that the bass is going to be missing a little, but i am used to it. I think they sound great. I'm an 80's metal head so I listen to a lot of rock and it sounds fine and does the job while working out or running. I also have in ear buds for cold days and they do sound better but I lose the ability to hear passerby's or cars coming up behind me. I would say that's my only gripe and its not Shokz fault, its the inability to wear a hat that covers my ears while running. That's when I wear my buds, otherwise if I can run without a hat, my Aeropex are on. Great product and glad i found them.

Very Happy Customer from the beginning

I bought my first pair of Aftershokz at a race expo, several years ago, when the company was new, as was the bone conduction concept. My first pair was the Titanium. I loved them! I wore them every single day for over 4 years. I am a competitive runner, and I’m very hard on my headphones, as I run 365 days, rain or shine, and they get tossed around in my car & luggage. They took a beating, and even after I completely broke them in half, they were still playing music and taking a charge! I bought the Aeropex , (now renamed as OpenRun), in Nov. of 2020 to replace the Titanium. I have been wearing them every day since. They have never let me down. They worked in freezing temperatures while I ran in the Swiss Alps, and in pouring rain while I ran in Germany. They continue to work as good today, in 100+ degree weather, as they did on day one. I’m a customer for life! Can’t wait to try the OpenRun Pro ! -Becky Bell Southern California
