Lego Winner for Middle Earth Fans

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We recently introduced my son to JRR Tolkien, so this is perfect! One of his favorite Lego styles to build are the helmets, and what’s better than Sauron? Even though this is an awesome adult collectible, my 9-year-old had no trouble building it without help. It’s lightweight, so we might glue it to make sure it stays perfect. The minifigure with The One Ring is our favorite part—super cool detail.

“Forged in Darkness”

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Sauron helmet set is an outstanding display piece, clever use of angles and elements to really capture the Dark Lord’s menacing image. Shaping feels precise, giving it a sharp, intimidating look straight out of the source material.
The only modification I made was shortening the two spikes on the helmet. While I’m sure their original length was accurate, trimming them slightly gives the helmet a cleaner and more balanced aesthetic in my opinion.
The included Sauron minifigure is phenomenal and pairs beautifully with the build, definitely a highlight of the set. Overall I have no complaints at all. Easy 5/5.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Super Cool Build

He was so excited for the minifigure. We both agree this makes a great display set since it has a place to rest the minifig.
It's a little small but it's not overwhelming. It is lightweight since it's a smaller display piece.
The bags were properly labeled which made building easier. It took my husband about an hour to build.
The coolest part of the set is the rubber piece to his helmet. I wasn't expecting the new texture.

I love this Lego set!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a Lord of the Rings fan, I adore this Lego set. The box even looks cool! Assembly is fun and the included instruction booklet is very well thought out. It goes step-by-step and there are numbered bags which keeps everything organized and manageable. As far as the design of Sauron’s helmet, I was amazed to see how many curves and little details there are. Lego sets have come so far compared to what we had as kids. As it went together, it became more and more stable and the parts that snap together in sections can handle the pressure of assembly. I think that the attachment points are extremely clever too, they hinge on each other and make it easy to align the sections of the helmet for the finished look.
It is just so cool. I’m putting in on a shelf above my gaming computer desk. This set would be a great gift for any Lego/Lord of the rings fan.

LOTR Legos rule them all

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a super fun build, great clear instructions. My son enjoyed it so much, he was lazer focused on it for a solid 2 hours. I think it was a little on the smaller side and could have been saved bigger build for the price the kit retails for.

This one is especially awesome because we love LOTR! We were ecstatic to get this set and have been actively working on getting it together. It's also really cool that it comes with a Sauron figure! Everything is high quality as always, and easy to follow instructions! Highly recommend!

I honestly regret buying the LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Sauron’s Helmet (11373), and that’s not something I say lightly because I usually enjoy LEGO sets even when they have flaws. This one just feels like a complete letdown from start to finish. The build is painfully repetitive, like they ran out of ideas halfway through designing it and just decided to copy-paste the same steps over and over again. For something aimed at adults, it’s shockingly boring. I kept waiting for some clever technique or satisfying moment to make it feel worth it, but it never came. It just ends, and you’re left wondering why it felt so underwhelming.
What really makes it worse is how disappointing the final result looks in person. Sauron is supposed to be this terrifying, imposing figure from The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, but this helmet just doesn’t capture that at all. The shaping looks awkward, the angles don’t line up as cleanly as they should, and instead of looking sharp and menacing, it comes off as chunky and kind of sloppy. From certain angles it looks okay, but from others it just falls apart visually, and you can’t unsee it once you notice it.
And for a display set, it’s honestly kind of ugly. It’s just a big, dark lump of black pieces that doesn’t stand out on a shelf the way you’d expect. There’s barely any contrast or detail to catch your eye, and the stand feels cheap and uninspired. This is supposed to be a centerpiece type of set, but it ends up blending into the background instead of standing out. I’ve seen way better-looking LEGO display builds at this price point, and that just makes this one feel even more like a ripoff.
Speaking of price, it’s absolutely not worth it. You’re paying a premium for what should be a high-quality collector’s item, but instead you get a short, repetitive build and a final model that doesn’t live up to the source material or the cost. It feels like you’re paying for the name and not the experience. Even the connection to Sauron doesn’t save it, because it doesn’t do the character justice in the first place.
Overall, this set is just frustrating. It had so much potential and completely wasted it. I went into it expecting something impressive and ended up with something that feels rushed, overpriced, and honestly kind of forgettable. If you’re thinking about getting it, I’d seriously recommend skipping it and putting your money toward something that actually feels worth building and displaying. This is an easy one-star for me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
