[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with a LEGO set quite like this, but the Floating Sea Otter definitely won me over. The design is absolutely adorable, especially the little pup resting on the mother’s belly. It really captures that peaceful floating moment you’d see in nature. It makes for such a calming display piece once finished. The build itself is enjoyable and nicely detailed. With over 1200 pieces it feels substantial but not overwhelming. The instructions make the process smooth and with the option to use the LEGO builder app, it makes it more interactive. I also love the poseable features. You can adjust the otters head and flippers which adds a bit of personality to the final look. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that some sections felt rather repetitive, like the base and water elements. It’s not a dealbreaker but it didn’t take away slightly from the overall excitement of the build. That being said, once it’s complete it’s genuinely a standout piece. It doesn’t feel like just a toy, it’s more of a piece of decor that sparks conversation. If you love animals, nature or just want something a little different than typical builds, this one is definitely worth it.

I liked how the set turned out, with the exception of one of the black pieces, as the eyes, being too loose that it consistently falls out when the set is moved or tipped. Unfortunately I feel the only way to fix it is to glue it, which I really don’t care to do. Sad.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This LEGO Floating Sea Otters set was a fantastic gift for my 8-year-old. He loves both animals and puzzles, so this was a natural fit right out of the gate. The otter theme is really charming, and the finished build looks great on display with lots of small details like the water and accessories that bring it to life.
The build itself is definitely on the more complex side, with over 1,200 pieces and a design that’s officially targeted at older builders . My son did surprisingly well working through it, but there were a handful of moments where he needed my help: Mostly with trickier sections or keeping track of the larger number of pieces. That said, it actually made for a really nice collaborative experience rather than a downside.
This made an excellent birthday gift and kept him engaged for quite a while. It strikes a nice balance between being challenging and rewarding, especially for kids who enjoy building and problem-solving. If your child is into animals and LEGO builds and doesn’t mind a bit of complexity (or has a parent willing to jump in), this is a really fun and memorable set.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such an awesome idea - legos for adults. It’s just like a puzzle but Lego form. We have had a family reunion and instead of a puzzle going we had this going! The sea otter is so cute and I loved the blue water. Instructions are great and on par with everything Lego puts out. Totally recommend this to any adult or bright teen/pre-teen with high level Lego skills. High quality pieces.
