I’ve ran commuter cases for several years on several iPhones and find them to be the perfect balance of protection and bulk. This case is no exception. My only minor critique is I would have preferred to have a more covered rear bump/camera area than it being completely exposed. However, there is a raised lip on both the rear cameras and front glass that provides protection for most situations. Also the MagSafe built in magnets work great and hold strong. I really appreciate not having to use external magnets for a phone mount anymore. Otterbox continues to improve, make solid products with a great warranty, and do so for a fair value. Overall if you want solid protection without substantial bulk buy a commuter and a screen protector and your phone will withstand everyday life just fine.

I previously used a Commuter case on my 14 Pro and it did a great job in protecting the phone compared to the Apple case that allowed the screen to chip at a corner. I purchased a blue Commuter case and was pleasantly surprised that it covered the entire perimeter of the 17 Pro. I saw reviews of Commuter cases for previous phones in which the reviewers were complaining about a section being exposed. The 17 Pro has a redesigned camera plateau or whatever they call it. The Commuter case has a large open space in the middle of the plateau. I would loved to have seen the case have a slim bar of material between the three lens and the flash/sensor on the right side for extra protection. Online reports state that the paint is easily scratched on these aluminum frames. I have no scratches yet, but I have a holster on my belt to store my phone instead of my pockets.

I’ve used otter box with every new iPhone I’ve had. I have always loved them. Well I got the new iPhone 17 pro and of course I’m ordering an otter box. They did not yet have the defender series available for purchase. The only one they had was this commuter series. I took a chance on it since I needed a new case before using my new phone. This case seems to be very thin plastic and only has small amounts of rubber on the corners. The top, bottom, and back are all thin plastic. It is so slippery, it’s almost impossible to hold on to it. I’ve dropped it so many times already. Also you can’t prop it up against something on a table because it just slides out from the bottom. I really wish I would have held out for the defender case that I have always loved. I just can’t see how anyone could actually use this case practically. I had to add a strap to the back of it just to keep a good hold of it while using.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
