Fun build and great looking set, but what poor oversite to not have lego train motors in stock for over a month. Why would you offer a train set and either not include the motor and hub, or at least insure you ramp up production of those parts so they could be purchased. Really poor planning and a disappointment for sure. Detracting from the w Enjoyment of the set.
The build was fun with my son. The train looks nice. We hooked up the power to it and it won't move on the track. It doesn't weigh enough to actually move on the track. You have to press down onto the train to increase the weight and get it to run. Super disappointing, I wanted this to go around my family Christmas Tree...
Do not buy if you intend to drive this around a track, buy for display/play without power only.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry to hear that you and your son are having trouble getting your holiday train moving. To help it along, we suggest making sure the wheels aren't pushed too tightly onto the train and that each train wagon is placed in its correct position. You'll also need fresh non-rechargeable batteries in your LEGO® Powered Up kit. If you've checked everything and it still doesn't move freely, please contact us at LEGO.build/Service-BV for hands-on troubleshooting.
For the most part, a great addition to the collection. Super disappointed it did not come with the one thing that I thought it did come with, the parts to make it move on its own... The advertisements I saw showed it moving on its own! Super disappointed the parts for this to happen are upgrades/ options. (And they are rarely in stock.)
I have never had anything but stellar experiences with Lego, so that could be why this set was such a disappointment. It looks cute, but functionally it’s an epic fail. The bear is extremely difficult to get to move, and gets stuck extremely often. The smoke stack isn’t much better. I tried the power up function with a non-LEGO motor (since it’s sold out and CRAZY expensive), and it looks absolutely ridiculous because it just goes much too fast. It’s a cute set, but a major headache and doesn’t function well at all. If you just want to display it, it’s fine. But it’s terrible to play with.
The build itself is fine. Not terribly original, but fine. The problem is adding the power functions to it. The engine is simply not heavy enough or something to give the wheels traction throughout a track. I have four other Lego trains I’ve added power to and this is the first one with this problem. I’m going to try moving the motor to the ‘coal’ car where the battery weight can help, but this is a huge disappointment.

Oh no! It's disappointing when your build isn’t going as planned. Please give us a call or chat at LEGO.build/Service-BV so we can help!
We purchased the hub, motor and extra tracks to make it even better. The train was super fun to build. My 9 year old loves it. The polar bear made the train a little too heavy for the motor to pull without stalling every once in a while but we enjoyed problem solving with motion and even building a free build car with the spare parts.
I loved this set, I have it on my kitchen table. But man just include the motor with it. I’d happily pay the money if it was included but now I have to wait for back order.
very let down by this. it was our 6th set in this series and we were very excited to build this as part of our tradition. I assumed the price increase was a result of the political time and bought it regardless. this set has hundreds of pieces less than the earlier sets, has very few details, no real hidden surprises like previous sets and took a fraction of the build time as previous sets in the series. my kids built it, looked at it, and went and played with the previous sets leaving this one to sit alone on the floor. what happened Lego??
