Doesn’t work well with powered accessories

I find that this train doesn’t move very well with the powered accessories. The front engine powered wheels spin out and the polar bear rear wheels don’t rotate well either. I think the original Christmas train was more successful.

Average set, bad value for money

Set is nice for the casual builder, but if you have been collecting the annual holiday sets, you can't help but compare this to the previous train set (model 10254). The light blue colors are fine but not as festive as the red/green combo. Price per piece is outrageous, and I don't understand the 3D printed element. This is a Lego after all, all pieces are technically 3d elements!! Bad decision if this particular 3D printed piece is what drove up the price, but time will tell if this piece will make this become a collector's item.
Also, a few things to note when you add the Powered Up parts: (1) The wheels will slip on slower speeds due to the lighter weight above the motor, you have to be at mid speed 5 or above to get good traction; (2) The up-and-down steam chimney mechanism and the bear's arms look fine when you pull the train by hand, but with the motor, the chimney doesn't noticeably go up and down due the speed coupled with a smaller gear, and the bear weirdly looks more like a kid having a tantrum at higher speeds; (3) the Powered Up phone app doesn't have a version for this set, you have to use the other train sets (perhaps one will be released soon) -- the app is an alternative to shelling up extra $$$ for the remote.
In my opinion, the only reason to get this is if you missed the first train set and in need of a holiday train, or a completist filling your annual set tradition. Such a shame that corporate Lego priced it high (especially promoting it to add the motor and remote) coupled with a non-practical 3D printed piece.

Lego got Greedy

I have purchased the winter village set since it started and I must say this set was extremely disappointing. Not only did they increase the price by 30% but the build took half the time it normally does! Only 2 mini-figures came with the set! This is unfortunate and this will more than likely be the last year I purchase this set.

Not worth the money

I have never felt compelled to write a Lego review until this set. I bought it to add to our Christmas collection, and was massively disappointed. Due to me apparently not reading the package correctly, I was surprised to see that it didn’t come with a motor. If someone wants to add a motor, it’s about $80 more dollars, which is fine. Until you realize that several parts are sold out. Upon looking for other retailers that sell it, you realize that people are now price gouging the parts for astronomical prices. So having a motorized train is not really an option.
Next is the building aspect. Most of the train was ok to build. But the polar bear car was ridiculous. Trying to get it to line up just right was a pain, and even after building it correctly, the mechanics wouldn’t work without you pressing down on the train car hard. That entire car is basically useless.
In addition to the polar bear issue, the train itself doesn’t stay on the track. It constantly falls off, and you have to repeatedly re-adjust the wheels. The fact that you have to hand push this (since the motor is unavailable) makes it even more frustrating.
I will be returning this set, and will probably never buy a LEGO train again.

This train is super cute. It’s a good, straightforward build, and the little extras like gifts and train station are cute. I had two main problems…. One, WHY does the polar bear not have eyes?!?! It’s just empty spots and super creepy. I took two flat black dots from a different set and gave him eyes. I also found the wheels to be SO frustrating. The ones that are pre made and click in are great. The ones attached to axles are nearly impossible to space just exactly right. As a result, the train has a hard time staying on the track and the motion wheels have a hard time catching the track and causing the motion pieces to work. There must be a way to pre-distance these and still make them connect to motion pieces. Otherwise, love this train and it’s adorable in my Lego Christmas Village!

Can’t get motor and circuit parts

Train would’ve been more impressive if they included or made available the motor, circuit and remote. I’m really dissatisfied that it’s on back order
