I had issues with the proper tax calculation entering information for a 1099-Q as a result of withdrawing money from a 529 account. The requested inputs blocked me from entering the correct taxable amount without any explanation. I will now need to file an amendment.

Easy to use. Doesn't include Form 7203 for K-1's.

It's a decent program for simple returns. Unfortunately if you receive a K-1 and need Form 7203 to calculate shareholder basis, the program does not support that form. You will need to use a different tax program.

I imported a PDF from last year and it did not copy all the data. When I tried to take the senior credit, it summarily told me I was not eligible. It took me a long time to figure out that the software did NOT import our DOBs and so was incorrect that we were not eligible for the senior credit. Honestly, I expect a lot more "due diligence" from software that I rely on. Also, it still does not work all that well on a MAC.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It works but has limitations

I've been using the H&R program and it's predecessor for the better part of 30 years, and I have generally been quite happy with a product. Over the last few years, as tax returns have become more complicated due to various investments, I find that various tax forms are not supported even though the premium addition is supposed to do that. It's a little frustrating, meanwhile I haven't had any difficulties from the IRS yet.
