I have used H&R software for many years. All went well until this year:My financial Advisor who oversees my IRA changed companies - therefore I got TWO 1099-Rs for the same account 1) before May 2025 & 2) after May 2025. My first trial to file was caught by the software as "insufficient withdrawal of RMD". When the mistake was corrected the Red Flag at review was not removed so I waited and sweat for 5 weeks while additional forms appeared in several updates. All well at the end but at 87 I don't need that kind of excitement.
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

Be ready for issues!

The software for MAC has numerous issues. The most glaring issue is that "Help" button does not work, it doesn't do anything. The automatic updater demands an update every time the software is opened. It downloads and reinstalled the update it just updated over and over. There are confusing terms used and no help to clarify. If you have a more complicated return, you will see these issues
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used H&R Block Premium every year for many years with good results. Sometimes I miss an entry. This year I missed entering Social security, I don't know how but I caught it before filling. It would be nice to have a check list.
