I have been using the software for the past 6 or 7 years now but this year the software did not work well. I had a lot of errors, data would get erased for no reason.

The only issue I had with the program was when it would not let me e-file a federal return that had income reported on a W2 from the state of Washington. The W2 listed the state as "WA" but did not list a state id # since Washington has no state tax. I never figured out how to override this issue so I just mailed the hard copy of the tax return in. This will cause a delay in the federal refund which is a pain in the butt.

It's a great product. I have purchased it for many years and hope to continue to do so. There are only a few things keeping me from 5 stars. Every year it seems there are a few questions that I don't think it answers completely. Also when doing the final accuracy checks it asks me to fill in missed input directly on the forms. I never understand why and would have preferred the prompts ask me while going through the normal steps. It gives me the feeling I did something wrong and have to 'fix' it.
Pros: Easy to prepare

After completing my form, I ran the proof scanner. It said that I needed to enter a country for some of my foreign income from mutual funds. The proper reply is RIC but I could not enter it easily. I spent a great deal of time over several days and finally re-did the interview to fix it. The other complaint is with the next years estimated taxes. Why do I need to guess at all the different income sources for the next year when you could just base it on the income (taxes) I just prepared?
