I had used turbo tax for years until intuit restricted use to windows 11 (yech). I reviewed different tax programs and settled on HR due to the suitability with the past tax report info. Different but yet the 'same' approach-guided questions to input data info into the already transferred forms. Overall, a mildly tedious effort but that is what tax forms are. Completed the taxes in roughly the same amount of time as previous years.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this premium software in mid November of 2025 to get a jump start on my 2025 taxed while doin g large ROTH conversions at the end of last year. My only complaint is that the "Tentative Entry" feature was not working from the start and was not fixed until I filed two formal complaints before finally getting fixed 3 months later. This feature is very important to me when initially inputting data before getting the final numbers from my banks, brokerage companies, business expenses, etc. in the following months before trying to file by the end of February 2026.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

Easy to install and use

Just finished my 2025 taxes with this product. Not only does it pull my financial info in (SSA, IRA, Brokerage/etc.) it calls out the most common issues and highlights issues to resolve. When my return was declined due to a missing IP Pin, the product gave specific directions for me to retrieve one and my return was then accepted. Very happy with this product.

Frustrating experience, had to file with TurboTax

I am a previously loyal HRBlock user. This year I filed with Turbo Tax. I went all the way through HRBlock, endured the fact that the download of 1099s from my main accounts with Merrill Lynch was unavailable (unlike previous years), only to find AT THE END OF ALL MY WORK that I could not e-file due to having more than 5 foreign accounts reported on Form 8938. Why is this information buried at the end? Why does the limit even exist?
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works great except when you input zero into data .

I have used H&R Block software for a number of years. I like the way it just asks questions and you just fill the data into the blanks.
What I didn't like was doing a review of federal taxes it gave me a warning for interest income that I recorded as 0 (zero). It wouldn't submit the taxes that way. The only way I could proceed was to blank out the field. To me zero is a valid answer and shouldn't have caused such a major issue.
