I bought HR Block tax software this year because TurboTax no longer works on my iMac operating system. I was going to have to purchase a new computer to use TurboTax. I've been using TurboTax for at least the last 10 years, so I had concerns changing to different software. HR Block software imported my 2025 TurboTax return without any glitches. With the exception of one confusing section of the software regarding my IRA, I was able to easily complete and transmit my 2026 return.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

The software is good, but I ran into some technical issues updating the software this year and I also had issues with 4th quarter tax estimates not being recognized in the proper year even though I checked the box. Year wasn't updated on the check box either. Still decent, but frustrations definitely more than prior years.

Completing the returns are quick, but I had a hard time finding information about cost basis adjustments and why some of those adjustments didn’t flow to form 8949. In the end, I just had to trust the software.

Been using this software for many years always hit or miss. Too many misses didn’t upload last year’s data correctly wouldn’t upload financial information not easy to get information. Last time no more.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents

I had a bit of a problem with the RMD questions, because I withdrew more than the required minimum amount during the year and I wasn’t sure how to answer, but IRS cleared it up for me.
