Doesn't ask dumb questions like Turbo Tax, but Hello/explanations are available where you need them. I've found it mostly easier and quicker to do my taxes with H&R Block software since having switched to it 4 years ago. I also like the E-file follow up.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
It does it all. If you have done your own income tax by hand, then you can use this by just going to the forms. They are all there. It makes it so easy and quick. With all your tax forms together, you can get your taxes done in an afternoon.
Not as easy to use a former versions. For example, program never did prompt me for added improvements (HVAC) on rental that needed to be 5 yr. depreciated. Help from an expert would have been a charge. It would be nice to have a simple chat about how to do that. I ended up adding it as a separate property. After I submitted and was looking at the actual depreciation form, I saw where I could have added it manually which I remembered I had done long ago when I did my taxes manually. Main reason I buy the deluxe (and it is a good price for the automation) is for my rental house,
Each year I find some quirky problems that have me chasing my tail. This year it double entered my salary. After I corrected it on my federal it still carried over on to my state. I ended up having to start both programs from scratch and eventually got it through (knock on wood!)
