I really do not know how HRBlock compares to other tax software, but I do not know that nowadays I would get either the Federal or Maryland taxes done correctly without such software. This package does the job with little problem in the process and with apparent correctness.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Lack of Explanation/Instructions

To e-file the PA state return, H&R required that "Wage Stmt Summary:Sec II Documents" be attached. There were no instructions or descriptions of what "Wage Stmt Summary:Sec II Documents" are. I finally took a wild guess that they wanted my W-2 pdf attached. Hopefully, this is it but all was very frustrating. Not happy with the lack of thoroughness in the program.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Simple questions, the answers to which, help navigate through the otherwise complex tax laws. If a problem is encountered there is a "chat" option and even a free phone call for help. I am a senior citizen and no longer the sharpest tool in the shop. Without the tax software I would be forced to visit a tax expert who probably uses this software or a similar one and pay many times the cost.

Cons: Time consuming
