Deluxe and State....misleading

Filing electronically is great.....BUT.....only Federal filing is free, state filing is at an additional cost. Our state does have a free electronic filing provision, so using this program is not a positive.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Program

I have been using this for years, it is a good program for most everything, however we had a 1099-Q and the program referred you to the IRS Publication 970. I feel this should be included in the program. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

I've been using HR Block software for years, and this year there were some anomalies which concern me. First, on an imported 1099-DIV it would not let the Foreign country be blank if the Foreign tax paid was 0. I had to make the Foreign tax paid blank as well before I could e-File. A more serious issue was that it selected a higher tuition deduction over an American Opportunity Credit, even though I had already selected the standard deduction. If I wouldn't have caught it, I would have missed out on a significant credit. It also kept complaining about box 3 on a W-2 being the same as box 1, which is the way the W-2 has been for several years, and it never complained before.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
