Easy to use. Have been using H&R Block for many years and its nice that the software for current year can pull in last years information as well as any 1099 or W2s if they are accessible online. The software takes you step by step and also includes assistance if you get stuck....which I have not had to use ....but know its available.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Last year was a bad experience with downloaded program which crashed at least once and caused a LOT of angst. Had to reinstall from new download, IIRC. Even when printing (repeatedly), the job was not perfect but all the data seemed in place and I did get a refund so it got to the IRS in good order. This year, I bought a CD and enjoyed using the Deluxe version pretty much straight through (same iMAC but different OS - Catalina now). No hiccups. Information was there when sought even if had to search a little. I did not use data import feature. Having tax data on computer from last year was beneficial.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Online and Box are different

I usually do my taxes with the online service. My partner purchased the box version which allowed for 5 returns. I had done my taxes online already but ended up using the box version since I wouldn't have to pay. The return amounts obtained were different. The online version would not give me one of the options to choose that the box version did. This change my federal and my state returns. I also did not like the interview of the box version, way more clunky. Why are the 2 different? And yes I did the updates.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It works ok, nice to import financial info. but all the added fees make it less appealing
Also, my e-file was rejected. Would have been good to know that one of the dependents social numbers had already been used first. Hard to get help when needed.
