I have used H&R Block to do my taxes for the past 11 years. It is my go to and has been an excellent, easy to use app and I really appreciate the ability to import my previous years data which makes generating the current year taxes easy breezy. I will continue to use this program.

Trouble Loading State Software

After completing my federal return I proceeded to the state section and was unable to download the Michigan edition.
-I disabled all the firewalls and was still unable to download the state software.
-I tried using a wireless connection in a different geographic location without luck
-I checked the Update Center but they did not have the state package available for direct download

Finally called the Help Desk and they sent me a link to download the state software package directly.
The state software loaded fine but I still could not connect to the Update Center. I had to call the Help Desk again to resolve the issue.

The technician agreed the download issues were not caused by my computer or network connection so I cannot recommend this product to a friend until the download/Update Center issues are resolved. I would, however, recommend this product to someone I don't know.
The Help Desk people were very helpful but I'm probably fortunate that I didn't wait until the last minute and prepared my tax return in late February.
My wait times on the phone were only 3-4 minutes and the issues were resolved within 15 minutes of a tech coming online with me.

Consistent user interface from year to year

I've been using H&R Block tax software (and its predecessor, Tax Cut) for many years. One thing I appreciate is the consistent user interface from year to year. Unlike most other software (especially Microsoft Windows itself), the screens and menus don't keep changing. The programmers resist the urge to rearrange everything each year. For a program typically used only once a year, I think that's a plus.
