I’ve been using the H&R Block downloadable software for several years. It easily grabs my past years information where I only have to edit the changes for the current year. The H&R Block program is intuitive and easy to navigate.

Useful, but a bit rough around the edges

I was able to file my taxes without too much effort using this software. In general, it works ok, but there are a lot of "rough edges", things that really shouldn't exist in a final, released version of software.
For example, the "see which forms are finalized" link on the updates page doesn't actually take you to a page that shows which forms are final and which will be updated. Instead, it takes you to a page to download old version of the tax software.
Another example is the bank account information. The software wasn't able to carry over bank account information from my federal tax payment to my state tax refund. It has to be a very common case that filers want to use the same account for both, but for some reason, the "copy from federal" box was grayed out -- maybe because one was a payment and the other a refund? In any case, another missed opportunity to make a simple improvement to make the software more user-friendly.
A third example is the printouts - using the supplied PDF driver, the summary pages at the beginning of the federal and state returns is cut off at the bottom of the page. Someone didn't bother to do a basic check of how the print margins should be handled so that the text breaks between lines.
These examples are typical of the rough edges throughout the software. It works for filing your taxes, but it's not a shining example of well-designed software.

Worked for me without a flaw. Download of 1099 forms was great. Seems like the interview could be shortened by using answers from previous years but this is a very minor problem. This about my 10th year using H&R, next year will be 11!

I've been using this program for many years to include several years when it was called Tax Cut. I always buy the Deluxe version.
It installs perfectly either from the disc or online, and updates as soon as changes occur. Upgrades to the program through the years have made it even better, more informative and easy for the user to understand.
I have been through home sales and purchases, moving to another State (with two State returns needed) and the death of a family member. All issues were handled perfectly by the program.
