Great Features, and even filed amended return

I've used this software for at least five years. This year, I messed up on not including one thing -- and noticed after filing. I therefore had to file an amended return after submitting my e-filed return. The software was fairly easy to use for the amended return, in addition to standard return. It walked me right through the amended return process. I left one star off because they could still do better on K-1s (i.e. stocks that distribute K1s).
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

I've been using H&R Block software for many years and I am always satisfied with the results. It is much cheaper than using a tax service and you can use it at your convenience. I will always use this software for my yearly taxes.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

Issues with the State program. Federal was fine.

The software found a potential issue with an entry on the state program, but would not let me update the field. I went back into the program to recalculate the field, but could not see an option to update the necessary field. I went to the Whole Form to manually update, but this didn't work either. Due to this, I could not e-file state taxes.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Instructions are terrible

I have been doing my own taxes for 54 years. Used one of the first programs out lots of years ago. Settled on kiplinger’s using them until your company purchased them.
This was the hardest I have had to work on the 54 years. I have over 24 hrs in working with this program.
Instructions for the new procedures are terrible. Hard to find info and entries.
I will have to think hard about buying it again.

Bought the package, could not find a super cheap deal as in past years.
Entered all the info, went to E-file; stuck in an endless cycle where the stupid thing wanted to update before filing. After 5 times, I was done and killed some trees. Plus HR block does not get the state efile fees I was willing to give them. Next year all paper forms, should be easier.

All I need

I am disappointed with the software this year. Firstly I did not understand that when I bought it on line, I needed to download right away. As it is, my window expired and had to buy again. This time the download for the State did not work. It truncates my taxable income of $159,600.00 to $159.00 and there appears no means to change this.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Stuff

I'm an HRB tax preparer who uses this product for my complex personal return, and have done so for years. I also use it for family returns when I run out of company-provided "Friends and Family" money for normal, in-office HRB returns. The software is great, even though some features vary a little from the in-office producct.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
