I've used H&R Block's Deluxe for more than a decade - it's easy to navigate and well documented.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

Beware - NJ Renter's -- wants roommate SSNs

NJ-1040 does NOT require personal information of roommates. But H&R Block NJ-state software REQUIRED both full name and SOCIAL SECURITY NO., claiming an error that prevents electronic filing. Other software calculation shortcomings: doesn't permit unequal rent split amongst roommates; doesn't permit proration of rent paid for partial month (such as at start or end of rental period).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A great product, easy to use.

We've been using HR block tax software for a few years, and this is the first year leaving a review. For us, the interface just 'works' really well, as well as comparing single vs married joint filing, comparing itemized vs standard deductions, and each of import from last years taxes, and ease of data entry. Highly recommended.

Adequate software for filing taxes.

Overall good software. Still has some glitches as software did not allow me to enter Foreign Tax Credit directly into Form 1116, which resulted in my credit being lower than what it should have been.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Best software at the best price

I've used this tax software for several years after getting tired of Turbo Tax bloat. I don't know what Turbo Tax is like now, but I continue to use HR Block because it downloads fast and it copies my previous year's return without a lot of fuss and delay. It's simple to use and the price is reasonable.
It brings up last year's data more accurately than I could do it manually and downloads from my other accounts reliably every year.
I don't know if they can simplify the the underpayment penalty form, but that's the only complicated part for me.
If HR Block had a personal finance program, that would be the icing on the cake!

Need some work

The ease of use seemed to have dropped off from previous years. Though I have used the TaxCut program for many years, the features are not as innovative as I though they would be at this point. Hopefully next year I will not have to try a different brand.
Cons: Hard to import documents
