Basic tax return, all the documents needed on hand, and it took forever to try to get the info from the versions of my forms entered with the “interview” questions. Many things don’t quite match up—considered hiring someone for the first time after decades of doing it myself.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Deluxe plus State program works quite well. However, certain section could use more clarity by way of information and clear interview questions, particularly topics addressing IRA conversions and rollover and foreign tax credits
Pros: Easy to import documents

Probably my 4th or 5th year of using after switching from TurboTax. Generally easy to use; sometimes the search feature doesn’t work as expected. Sometimes not clear what next steps are. But it works and is a good value.

I am a CPA . Very difficult user experience with the software. Not intuitive to find things. Hate the worksheets combined with the form views. Prefer turbo tax experience. Gave this 2 instead of a 1 because it does calculations unlike some free file products. Ridiculous that if something doesn’t apply at federal ( i.e. charitable deductions) the item does not flow the the state return. Software instructions say to enter manually as a lump sum.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Your "pay plan" for e-filing however, was pricey!!!
Given the considerable"owed tax" incurred for 2024, your fee for e-filing was more than I paid for the deluxe software I purchased. I "opted out" and mailed my return at the Post Office. The fee was, in my opinion "way too much"!

When I tried to submit my return for 2024, it was rejected because of incorrect AGI or PIN for last year's 2023 return. I check last year 2023 return and it contains the exact same AGI submitted for 2024. Since I mailed 2023 return I didn't include a PIN. So I had to mail in the 2024 Return.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
