I have used the H&R Block deluxe software for about 10 yrs., the software is easy to use and proves very helpful hints. Upon completion the software does a check before electronic filing the tax returns.
The only drawback is the add-on fees as you progress through the tax preparation, all fees should be shared upfront and not just the base rate.

The user interface is very old and outdated. There was confusion with some stocks I had sold and there was a supplemental 1099. This was the main reason I upgraded to the "Deluxe" version. In the past the software would make the adjustment but this year I had to manually make. the adjustment which created errors. If there was an AI chat bot available this could have helped.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to prepare

I have used Turbotax in prior years. this year I tried H&R. Most data transferred O.K. - the generation of the estimated tax payments for the next year was confusing and I felt that I may end up not paying enough and subject to a penalty.
