Long time user of H&R Block. The last three years have increasingly difficult to maneuver. From my perspective, the program is a far cry from being “USER FRIENDLY” Each year I hope your format becomes less confusing. I honestly doubt whether I will purchase next year.

I encountered multiple bugs while using this year's version of H&R Block Deluxe, many of which made the program clumsy to use. ie. It would take multiple attempts to revise or access certain sections of the interview. The worst bug however is that my State of Vermont home ownership percentage was reported to the Vermont Department of Taxes as 1% when it was supposed to be 100%! After receiving a letter from the State of Vermont, I went back and confirmed the number entered as "100%" in my return. That is, this was not an entry error on my part and this number must have been changed internally by the software during transmission.
I have been using H&R Block software for years (TaxCut before that) and this is by far the worst experience I have had with any tax software.

I bought the software in February, I completed my taxes. When I went to file my taxes, I was notified that I would need to file my State return by mail. I wish I would have been notified sooner so I could prepare better for the filing. A notification that a mail in return is required should immediately be flagged to the user not at the very end when you're preparing to file your return.

I have been Tax Cut/H&R Block software for many years. I was very happy with the software, until 2024 version. I felt many areas of helpful help Tax Cut/H&R Block software provided in the past were not there. In many areas, I had to look up or do further research for necessary information to proceed. I never felt this before 2024.
I hope this is not an indicator of what Tax Cut/H&R Block software will become.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used H&R Block/ Tax Cut for many years. It is usually easy to use. I've found that most of the time, after entering all of my possible deductions, that I end up using the standard deduction. This makes me wonder if it wouldn't have been better to purchase the standard software. I am glad that I used the deluxe as it allowed me to make all of the entries and compare which deduction method is best. Overall, I am happy using H&R Block tax software.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
