Overall, the product meets my needs. The only issue I faced this year and last was downloading the STATE package. It appears there is a software bug that negatively impacts some MAC users. In both cases a simple call to the support number handled the issue.

I've been using this product for years and it's become blatantly clear that the State tax program is an afterthought that gets little to no love. For example, the MA state carryover losses must still be entered manually each year enough though they should be imported from the previous year's filings. This is something that is easy to forget and can be costly to the user. The language in the forms is vague and the help is not much help at all. It's as if the creators of this application have never used it themselves to see just how bad it is. In fact I over-payed MA taxes in 2023 because of the bad user interface and wording. Even the Federal form has dumb behavior that shows a disregard for good product development. For 2024, the error checking phase asked me to fill in a line if I itemized in 2023; again this is something it should know during the importing of the prior year's form. The purpose of computers and spreadsheets (which is more or less what this application is) is to make it easy to get accurate results. Crunching numbers should be easy. Yet year after year, the H&R tax software, especially the state form, doesn't deliver as it should.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

the idea that I have to pay extra to get long term access to my software STINKS. I paid for my copy. I should not have to pay twice!
