I've used H&R software around 20 years to do my taxes at home and I think this will be the last year I use it. This year after I entered the data from a form 1099R, the software kept flagging an error and would not process my state return. It said I needed to enter an amount in Box 16 even though Box 16 was blank in my form 1099. I don't know if it was the SW or not but I was unable to get H&R online support for this issue.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
