I have used this software for years, generally find it easy to use, and will continue to use it. However, this year, with all of the new tax changes, some things were not documented as well as they could have been. While I believe that the software is accurate, I like to be able to understand decisions that the software makes. In two instances this year the software did not explain the decision, leading to some concern and significant effort to track down why. One instance was with the QBI deduction and the other was with the over 65 deduction on the Virginia taxes. It makes me truly appreciate all of the work that goes into developing tax software to make my life easier.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Good tax filling software, but could not e-file; tried everything the software suggested but the answer was that the AGI didn't match despite inputting the correct value (I checked my tax forms from the previous year, and IRS trasncript and they both had the same AGI). Software directed me to mail my forms instead.

Less expensive alternate and very intuitive. The question answer and search function is very helpful. Our taxes are somewhat more complicated with our investments, this program got us through it with ease!

Overall, the H&R Block tax software is quite easy to use. The software provides guidance to almost all federal entries I need to report. Very easy to input data and to submit filings to the IRS. I've been using H&R Block tax software for many years now and have experienced a high level of satisfaction with it. The software is somewhat weaker on state filings. It does not have the same level of research on state requirements.
