It works, but the help it provides is weak. If you are looking at a certain value on a tax form that the software prepared, and want to determine where that value came from, it's usually pretty hard to trace back. The "take me to" help usually doesn't help when you're trying to determine where to find the questions related to something arcane. Getting telephone help or online chat help requires long waits. Since I've been doing my own taxes for over 50 years, I'm familiar with the basics, but sometimes I face something new to me. Someone new to preparing tax returns is likely to get confused.

Easy to use, don't even have to go to the store to pick-up. I have spent well over twice the price to have someone to do for me and had to wait a few days. It pretty well does it for you.

I thought the program worked well this year, although it didn’t carry the correct form over from 2919 return for home office deduction - which resulted in a requirement to fix the form, which I did. Other than that it was easy to use, but it could be even more user friendly if there was a reference to the 1040 line applicable to the question for specific earnings or deductions.

Overall easy to use and accurate - with a caveat

Overall the tax software is easy to use and is accurate (I've used it for many years). One caveat is that I recommend copying your personal tax file often, and saving it as an archive in a subfolder. When I loaded the state software, the instructions were somewhat confusing; I thought I was saving the state tax software and instead it overwrote my personal tax file with a new, blank one - all my entries were lost! Fortunately, I had a recent archive that I could copy and save as my master tax file. One other minor issue that I've submitted a couple of times is that, on a Mac, you can't close the app by clicking on the red button in the upper left corner of the screen (it's always grayed out). You have to use the menu bar and click on File > Close (or Save and then Close). But I'm pleased with the overall app and the e-filing and notification features.
