Easy to use. Easy to file. If you use H&R Block year after year, the previous year's data is on your computer and is loaded for the current year's taxes, making data entry and E-file a snap.
We have used H&R Block software for about 5 years, but will never again. The process was going as expected, until we finally got to the transmission step. At this point, the program told us we needed to attach a pdf of a PA state form. The form was not explicitly identified by a number, and none of our other returns for federal or the second state could transmit without this attachment. Firstly, I would expect the form to be included with the software to facilitate the state return. Why am I using tax software, only to have paper come into the process at the end? Secondly, if not included with the H&R Block software, I would expect the form to be directly referenced by number, or better yet a link to the PA department of revenue website. Thirdly, I do not understand how/why this was not included in any prior steps/checks before transmitting the completed returns... why did the requirement only show up after we were done with everything? We ended up electronic filing directly with PA (for free, and without issues), therefore allowing us to send the other returns. Won't be making this purchase for 2021 or recommending to anyone else going forward.
I had to figure out few items as explanations were not helpful. ESPP entries pages not very clear. Spouse IRA data was not taken/missed into calculations after download from brokerage site thru tax cut.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
