Pretty good software for taxes. In a few places it is not intuitive, but for the most part OK. Could be more clear on how to file an amended return, especially for Virginia State Income Tax.
Excellent, mostly very intuitive software for complex returns that I have been using for many years. The only criticism I have is that my initial attempt to self-compute the underpayment penalty resulted in an error that required a manual correction. After that, all was AOK and the IRS accepted my e-filed return in less than an hour.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
This is great software that I would rate as stupendous, but for one thing. My Delux version provides free electronic submission for federal forms. However, there is a charge for state forms. That in itself is unfortunate, but what makes it horrible is that the fact the charge is hidden from the user and surreptitiously sprung on them at the last minute. Turbo Tax does the same thing and that's why I dumped that software. Now I face the same thing with Block. Its unfortunate that corporate America has never learned to shoot straight.
The H&R Block tax software is very easy to use. Simply input your personal tax information and you are guided through the process, leading to an accurate return and quick (10 days for me) IRS processing. I highly recommend this product due to its clear and concise instructions and E-Filing capability.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
The software couldn't open the file it saved, so I couldn't access it. This also meant that I couldn't get to the stuff that happens after the return is accepted. The software support was crappy, so I couldn't figure out why it messed up like this, but the end result is that my returns were accepted (I got the email), but I can't access my file.
