I have been using H&R Block Software (and its predecessor TaxCut) for about 20 years. The H&R Block software is reasonably-priced, easy to use, and accurate.
I've used this product for years, but consider it vague when looking for something out of the ordinary. Like the disposition of numbers entered from a trust k1. I am not convinced that all my entries were properly handled. I could see where some flowed into my return but not others. And handling the data verification couldn't be more confusing.
Incomplete and inaccurate are the best way to describe this software. Ended up not being able to file even a simple return. Why have the user enter all information about relocation expense deductions only to be told they are only allowed for military personnel? Much better options out there that are less frustrating and cheaper.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
Program has a lot of defects I had to correct in order to e-file as these were built in default checks that were wrong. Also wording on Schedule D is wrong for line 13 as it refers to Form 8814 which has no pertinent data and should instead refer to the dividends in Schedule B.
Good product. Right now I've been charged four times for my state return due to an error on my federal that needed to be fixed before both could be accepted.
