I am a returning user after about 10 years using a CPA. The software is mostly easy to use, the main issue why I only gave it 4 stars, is that the definitions for terms that may be common knowledge to accountants or tax preparers are not known to mere mortals like me and sometimes the explanations are taken (it looks) verbatim from the law which makes these explanations slightly useless as they make things even less clear, perhaps a further text in plain English instead of legalese?
When adding multiple forms (i.e. 1099-DIV) from several institutions, the way these are entered is a bit awkward, once you understand the structure then is not as bad... some explanations would be nice.
Planning for a new W4 is very cumbersome, in special cases (like mine) when the whole year is not what I will use and I can't get a good calculation to fill/submit a new form...
I feel confident using the software. It is easy to move back and forth through the forms. The electronic filing fee seems high considering the cost of the software.
The print and text should be larger and fill more of the screen to make it easier to read. There's plenty of room on the screen and it could be made in larger print for easier viewing for all.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
