Been using it for 10+ years. I changed from turbotax way back because taxcut had a much better price for similar features. Its been worsening over the last few years. This year pushed me over the edge with an error that prevented me from sending my taxes for over a week. I will be looking at other options next year.
Have used H&R Block Tax Program for years. Love it and will continue using it. One year needed advice and went to their local office and got the advice I was looking for at no cost.
This is my third year using the software, but this year I had a problem. As I was filling my deductions out, I mistakenly checked a box that should not have been checked. As I reviewed the return results I noticed a the mistake. I went back in, corrected my mistake, but the software seemed to ignore my update. I had to manually enter a corrected number in the return. Therefore, I can no longer recommend the software.
It’s easy & fast to do, but should have software that is just for taxpayers who only use the standard deduction. You shouldn’t have to go through all the itemized questions .
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I think the program has been less helpful than in the past; nothing specific, just a "feel". But my chief irritation is seeing all the "file for free" ads, and finding that only applies to the federal forms. State still costs to file online. So... you can use the program to figure the state taxes, print and mail the forms; or, figure the taxes, then copy the info into an online state form; or buy just the federal program, and do the state manually.
