HR Block continues to set the bar higher and higher with tax software that covers the gambit of hundreds of tax filing scenarios for the American taxpayer. The multitude of end of year stimulus payments and taxable events were incorporated with interview questions to help clarify which category you might fall under. The updates were scheduled and indicated which forms were being adjusted such that you knew ahead of time if you might be impacted; extremely important for those wishing to file as early as possible and knowing whether to wait or move forward. The moved filing dates were incorporated so you could stay abreast of what seems like changes by the week. Love my HR Block...will pre-purchase as soon as the 2021 product is available.

Poor error handling .... Don't call the help line

When it was announced that 1099-INVs could be downloaded, I tried. Got a numeric error message. Searched for that error with no result. Tried a couple more times with the same result. Tried chat help. Went in circles with no relevant information. Tried phone support. On hold for 5 hours while it kept telling me where I was in line. Finally got to be #1 in line and it hung up on me before connecting to a person. I will not buy this product again.

Cons: Hard to import documents

I was pleased that my last return could be uploaded and scanned, but it shouldn’t have been necessary since I used the online version last year, but this version cost much less and created a little rework. When I submutted last years AGI was flagged by the IRS immediately, but that makes no sense since it was uploaded by your software and can not even be adjusted, it still hasn’t been offficually accepted by the IRS, worried this is a software problem. Also still wonder if HR block impacted our 2nd or 3rd stimulus as they haven’t been received.

I’ve used this for years, and find it is an excellent product. That said, as I understand it next tax season the software will not support Windows 8. I guess I will have to buy a new computer or find another sort ware package.
