Anyone can use this software with ease. I've been using it for years now. Could be a little better in the help area rather than referring to the IRS page since it updates every time it opens anyway.
It's certainly helpful overall, but there are just too many interview questions where I'm left wondering the true definition of what is being asked and how significant the implications are for my particular return. For example, the question about whether or not the decedent of my inherited IRA had any basis in the IRA. I knew it as a "beneficiary" IRA and had to confirm outside the program that that is the same as an inherited one. Also, despite reading the FAQ with more information, I was still unclear what having "basis in an IRA" actually meant until I googled it and read some much simpler explanations.
Ease at which one could use the software. I was particularly impressed at the way the program walked me through options enabling me to make the correct selection
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
The product is fairly consistent from year-to-year. It's like the "Times New Roman" of tax software: nothing flashy, could be spiffed up (e.g., the tax forms could be more readable and IRL-like), gets the job done so long as there's nothing unusual going on. If you need help on some aspect of taxation, you are probably better off to do an Internet search.
